On the road to Cannon Beach

Beginning the road trip
So we've started a journey that will take us across the country, from the Pacific Northwest to Florida, places in between, and back again. Like all good journeys that originate in the PNW in February, it started with a rainy day.
Special thanks to the awesome house sitters who will be living at our home while we're on our adventure!

Step on it, we're being followed...
Oh wait, it's Rocinante!

A hospitable rest area
Who would have thought there would be homemade oatmeal coconut cookies at a rest stop north of Kelso on I-5, staffed by 2 lovely ladies, volunteers from a local senior center? The tea and cookies helped to cheer a rainy, cold afternoon!

Arriving at Cannon Beach RV Resort
When we started the day we didn't really know exactly where we'd wind up. As we drove, we decided to try a nice campground we had stayed at many years ago in Cannon Beach. It's generally pleasant with lots of trees, an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, and plenty of camping sites. So we called them from the road. This early in the season, not on a holiday weekend, they had plenty of space. In fact, since it's still winter, we got two nights for the price of one. My kind of discount, especially at a nice place like this.
We arrived at the campground and managed to unhitch during daylight, which we definitely prefer. We also enjoyed swimming in their indoor pool and soaking in the hot tub . THIS is our idea of glamping!
